*Disclaimer: This post is not supported or endorsed by Restoration Place Counseling or by any political candidate or committee. It is simply personal reflections of the author.   What do political campaigns and counseling ministries have in common? Perhaps not much in the grander scheme of life, but in my little world, I see a strong similarity, at least in the political campaign and counseling ministry that I’ve experienced up close and personally. I recently had the privilege of taking part in a grassroots effort to elect my friend and former pastor Mark Walker as the Republican candidate vying for… read more

The Benefit of Remembering

July 22nd, 2013 by Cindy - 2 Responses

Several months ago, I flew home to Louisiana to visit my parents. At some point, I was catching mom up on all the latest happenings at Restoration Place. At that time, I was in the process of interviewing for both a full-time Clinical Supervisor and Counselor position, as well as completing the up-fit and decorating of our recently added office space. Are. So. Good.” I was taken back in my mind to December 2004, the “eve” of my last semester in graduate school. I had just been told by a very dear friend that she and her husband had decided to… read more

I just returned from my Thursday morning Bible Study Fellowship class. This year we are studying Genesis, one of my favorite books in the Bible. Something from today’s lecture, by teaching leader Susie Guhne, was very interesting to me. I feel as if I’m being invited to ponder it more deeply, and since I focus more easily through the written word, I figured I might just kill two birds with one stone and turn my pondering into blogging. The lecture focused on only two verses–verses 1-2 of chapter 1. Seems like not much meat for a full lecture, but trust me,… read more
