Witnessing Renewal - Letters from the Founder of Restoration Place Counseling

The Benefit of Remembering

Several months ago, I flew home to Louisiana to visit my parents. At some point, I was catching mom up on all the latest happenings at Restoration Place. At that time, I was in the process of interviewing for both a full-time Clinical Supervisor and Counselor position, as well as completing the up-fit and decorating of our recently added office space. She asked me if I ever just sat back and thought about all the Lord has done over the last 8 ½ years. Sadly, I had to tell her that I don’t—or, at least, not nearly as often as… read more

My Cup Runneth Over

Are. So. Good.” I was taken back in my mind to December 2004, the “eve” of my last semester in graduate school. I had just been told by a very dear friend that she and her husband had decided to… read more

The Ultimate Renewal

I just returned from my Thursday morning Bible Study Fellowship class. This year we are studying Genesis, one of my favorite books in the Bible. Something from today’s lecture, by teaching leader Susie Guhne, was very interesting to me. I feel as if I’m being invited to ponder it more deeply, and since I focus more easily through the written word, I figured I might just kill two birds with one stone and turn my pondering into blogging. The lecture focused on only two verses–verses 1-2 of chapter 1. Seems like not much meat for a full lecture, but trust me,… read more

7 Years Later

August 29th, 2012 by Cindy - One Response

Exactly seven years ago today, the worst natural disaster to visit American soil roared her way through my home state. And today, as another hurricane has made landfall on the coast of Louisiana, there are reports of more broken levees and trapped residents in a rural parish south of New Orleans. It is estimated that Isaac could actually dump more rain over parts of Louisiana and Mississippi than his big sister Katrina did. As I’ve read the news reports today I’m reminded how, as the world slowly became aware of the real-life nightmare occurring in New Orleans on August 29,… read more
