You Are Welcome Here

When I arrived at the office this morning, I saw sitting in our lobby a friend who I’d gone to church with quite a few years ago. After we shared a cheerful hello, I noticed that she was holding a clipboard…one of our clipboards which houses the paperwork that first-time clients are asked to complete. And for a moment, I felt a little awkward, mainly because I didn’t want her to feel awkward. But then with a tender understanding of why most anyone would be sitting in our lobby, I said exactly what was on my mind: “I’m so glad… read more

The Solid Rock

Summer will soon be here. I hope to make a trip to the beach at some point. It’s been a while. I remember one trip to Wrightsville Beach…a long weekend of nothing more than laying on the beach, playing in the ocean, and eating lots of good food. For the few of you who may actually follow this blog, I’m sure you’ve noticed that I’ve broken the online writers’ rule of not posting nearly enough. The title of this particular post was “the one big reason I want to quit writing”…. read more

Let’s call her “Jane.” Jane was having coffee with a friend. We’ll call her friend “Jill.” So, Jane and Jill were meeting because of a common ministry they are to be involved in at their church. They’ve known each other for years. However, they’ve just recently begun sharing on a deeper level. During their coffee conversation, Jane casually mentioned Restoration Runway (you know, that little event we’ve been talking… read more

It’s That Time of Year

February 28th, 2012 by Cindy - One Response

We’re about 4 1/2 weeks away from the best nonprofit fundraiser EVER—The Third Annual Restoration Runway. We start our planning in the summer prior to the event, which is held toward the end of March each year. They say it takes a village to raise a child…I’d say it takes ten thousand villages to plan a fashion show!! This year we have five committees made up of approximately 35 women whose tasks have ranged from creating the press release to prayer, and everything in between. They have solicited sponsorship money, recruited retailers, planned the silent auction, and more. I’m so very… read more
