Greetings! I pray each of you is enjoying these last few days of summer! I’ve procrastinated getting this edition of the newsletter written for several reasons, mainly because life has been crazy busy and I’ve struggled wrapping my brain around what the Lord wanted me to share with you. Finally, last night, I felt Him prompting me to just be honest about where I am, and that is…I’m tired. (Can anyone relate? ) While this is by far the most rewarding journey I’ve ever been on, it is also by far the most difficult. I am currently meeting with about… read more

It’s hard to believe that summer is just around the corner! It seemed like it was months away when I registered to attend a workshop in June on eating disorders—and now it’s less than a week before I’ll participate in the continuing education conference hosted by Remuda Ranch, one of the leading inpatient programs for those suffering from eating disorders and related issues. “They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.” (Isaiah 61:4) It’s Saturday afternoon. I’ve just returned from making a house call. One of my clients, a 29-year-old single mom, phoned in desperate need of an intervention after her 10-year-old son erupted in an angry outburst. She was simply in need of some support and asked if we could hold an emergency family meeting. Working together over the past few months, one of our goals has been to train her and her sons in the… read more

November/December 2008

“God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” (2 Corinthians 9:8) I have procrastinated writing this letter for more than a few days now. Traditionally, the November/December newsletter focuses on our end-of-year fundraising campaign. Yet, with the current economic crisis dominating the headlines, the thought of requesting financial support for Restoration Place has become just a bit intimidating. I confess that I’ve had more than one conversation with God on this matter, reminding him that living on such… read more
