Witnessing Renewal - Letters from the Founder of Restoration Place Counseling

Weary and worn-down

August 6th, 2009 by Cindy - No Responses

I’m tired. (Can anyone relate? ) While this is by far the most rewarding journey I’ve ever been on, it is also by far the most difficult. I am currently meeting with about 25 to 27 clients a week, for problems ranging from broken marriages to depression and anxiety to body image and eating disorder issues. These women are absolutely precious, yet they struggle on a deep level to know and believe that they are worthy and beautifully created in the very image of God. I am grateful for the opportunity to provide a safe place for them to come… read more

Eating Disorders

June 4th, 2009 by Cindy - No Responses

It’s hard to believe that summer is just around the corner! It seemed like it was months away when I registered to attend a workshop in June on eating disorders—and now it’s less than a week before I’ll participate in the continuing education conference hosted by Remuda Ranch, one of the leading inpatient programs for those suffering from eating disorders and related issues. I am grateful for this opportunity… read more

However, none of these is actually correct. The most often stated command is one that, although apparently not our first response when asked, most surely is one we need to hear… and… read more

Five loaves and two fish

November 30th, 2008 by Cindy - No Responses

“God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” (2 Corinthians 9:8) I have procrastinated writing this letter for more than a few days now. Traditionally, the November/December newsletter focuses on our end-of-year fundraising campaign. Yet, with the current economic crisis dominating the headlines, the thought of requesting financial support for Restoration Place has become just a bit intimidating. I confess that I’ve had more than one conversation with God on this matter, reminding him that living on such… read more

Running with Perseverance

October 5th, 2008 by Cindy - No Responses

“…and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” (Hebrews 12:1b) I did something last month that I said I’d never do. I ran my very first half marathon. Though I’ve been a runner for about eight years, entering races has never seemed even remotely desirable. However, at some point this spring, during a momentary lapse of sanity, I agreed to run the Virginia Beach Rock ‘n Roll Half Marathon. (I tell you, it was indeed insanity because who in her right mind would agree to run a race at the beach in August?!) Anyway, as the… read more
