In August 1997, Cindy Mondello drove into Greensboro, North Carolina, eight months sober and 1,000 miles from her home state of Louisiana. She had no idea where the path ahead would lead, but she knew she’d been given a new lease on life.

In high school, Cindy fell into the grips of addiction, anxiety, and feelings of emptiness. For years she tried to mask the symptoms and maintain a false image of perfection, neglecting to seek help when she needed it the most.

After muddling through her messy life for nearly 15 years, things began to change. In December 1996, during a very dark night of wrestling with her soul, God reached down and took hold of her heart. Beginning that night and for several years thereafter, God restored her life through the help of individual Christian counseling, in-depth Bible study, and a caring and supportive community. Her primary goal was to find a better life for herself. Never did she expect that, through her journey, thousands of other women might also experience transformation.

Cindy’s dream – Restoration Place Counseling – became a reality in 2005 after she finished a Master’s Degree in Christian Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

“Restoration Place Counseling was born out of my journey. As I was searching for wholeness, I was able to see the role that professional counseling plays in healing, and I developed a passion for leading women into a true understanding of their worth and value through clinically-sound, Christ-centered therapy.”

While Cindy served as the sole provider of counseling services for the first five years of operation, she transitioned fully into the role of Executive Director in 2013, taking on the responsibilities of administration and fundraising. When she’s not leading her staff of 15 employees, meeting with donors, or planning fashion shows, you can find Cindy running, hiking, country two-stepping, or playing with her Blue Mitted Ragdoll cat, Beatrice. In other words, she’s living fully and with joy in the new life she was given all those years ago.
