About Restoration Place Counseling

Restoration Place Counseling (RPC) was founded by Executive Director Cindy Mondello in 2005. RPC was created from a vision to facilitate emotional and spiritual healing in girls and women through significantly-discounted Christian counseling services, thus eliminating the barrier of high cost and resulting in access to the care clients may otherwise be unable to receive.

At RPC, clients meet with Licensed Professional Counselors in a beautiful, restorative environment. Based on need and treatment goals, most clients attend weekly sessions for an average of six months to one year. Our counselors blend proven psychological principles with a biblical worldview to offer counseling and support to our clients. Our priority goal is to journey with our clients through a process of healing and restoration that allows them to fully accept and experience God’s unconditional love and find freedom from life-crippling issues that inhibit them from reaching their full potential.

All counselors at RPC are master’s level (or higher) licensed clinicians. A variety of theoretical approaches–such as Cognitive Behavioral, DBT, Solution-Focused, Narrative Therapy, and Trauma-Focused CBT – are utilized by our clinicians to support clients in recovery and growth. In addition, clients may be referred to other specialists within the community, such as a nutritionist for dietary advice or a physician to address any underlying biochemical imbalances, as we believe a collaborative approach is most helpful in supporting clients toward health. Clients may also be referred when we believe the needs of the clients fall outside our areas of expertise or the realm of our philosophy.

At Restoration Place Counseling, we believe that God is the One who has the power to change the human heart. We see ourselves not as the creator of change, but as instruments in the hands of the One who can create change superior to anything a counselor or client could ask or imagine. That being said, we will always meet a client where she is spiritually, and religion is never imposed on a client by any staff member, nor is anyone denied service based on her religious beliefs.

The Nine Essentials of Christian Counseling

Christian Counseling can have many different definitions depending on who you ask. At RPC, we are committed to transparency and authenticity in all things. The following nine principles were developed by the Staff and Board of Directors in an effort to share with you how we view Christian Counseling.

We are committed to practicing Christian disciplines. Each of us, as counselors and staff, has experienced a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Therefore, our spiritual growth and personal self-care are foundational to our ongoing transformation toward greater Christ-likeness.

We are dedicated to providing a safe and accepting environment. Each person can feel loved, empowered, and encouraged to embrace God’s truth about herself (or himself). Therefore, we offer judgment-free listening and unconditional acceptance as we express God’s truth through counseling.

We are steadfast in our belief that people matter to God. Each person has worth and is uniquely created in God’s image. Therefore, we seek to foster an understanding of God’s purpose and plan for each life we touch.

We believe in an eternal Christian perspective. There is more to this life than what we currently experience. Therefore, we help people to view their present suffering and personal challenges through an eternal perspective.

We are passionate about reflecting God’s love. God delights in each person. Therefore, we demonstrate the unconditional love of God and share the hope and peace that comes from resting in His love.

We are convinced that biblical truth is foundational. The Bible is the source of truth. Therefore, we will skillfully incorporate professional counseling theories and methodologies with a biblical perspective.

We are dependent on prayer to inform our counsel. Prayer provides the connection we all deeply need with our Heavenly Father. Therefore, we will model prayer as an essential component of our counseling praxis and discernment process.

We allow the Holy Spirit to guide each session. The Holy Spirit is the True Counselor who provides comfort, console, and guidance. Therefore, we will invite the Holy Spirit to join our counseling relationship and process.

We believe that healing occurs by God’s Spirit. The Spirit of God has the power to provide authentic healing for our spiritual, emotional, and psychological suffering. Therefore, we will assist each person to trust God and all His resources to know there is hope for their healing.
