What Do Saints and Counseling Have In Common?

Having been born and raised for the first 30 years of my life in Louisiana, I don’t quite understand the ACC hype of the North Carolinians with whom I now make my residence. I remember moving here the year that Dean Smith retired as head coach of the Carolina ‘Heels basketball program. The news was on every radio station, whether country, Christian, or rock, headlining the newspapers, and top story on every local TV station. When I arrived at work that morning, I naively asked, “Who is this Dean Smith everyone is so up in arms about?!” Well, let me… read more

This Is the Way, Walk in It

This morning began quietly, with yummy pumpkin spice coffee and snuggles from my comfort creatures. While I understand and appreciate the need for corporate worship, sometimes I just need to meet Jesus in solitude on a restful Sunday morning. So that was my decision for today. With a bit of worship music playing on Pandora® and a fire in the fireplace (pretending that it really is winter outdoors), I pulled out my Bible and the next lesson for my BSF group. Sometimes the best made plans just don’t go the way we hoped. Today has been one of those days. I was very excited to travel with my sister and brother-in-law to my parents’ home in Louisiana. The plan was to leave Greensboro at 7:00 am and arrive in Shreveport by 10:10 am. However, this schedule included a tight connection in Atlanta. Very tight. Definitely not enough time to deal with delays…. read more

God Must Be Busy

I originally wrote the following in March of 2008. I thought about it again today when I received K-LOVE radio’s Encouraging Word for the Day: Psalm 37:23 The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. I have talked with several women this week who need to be reminded that, even when we don’t see God answering our prayers the way we think He should answer them, He has not forgotten us. He is intimately concerned with every detail of our lives.  Occasionally I work at the local behavioral health hospital. Here is… read more

Giving Thanks

November 25th, 2011 by Cindy - One Response

Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done. (Psalm 105:1) I was driving back to Greensboro tonight after spending a lovely afternoon and evening in the mountains with my brother-in-law’s family. My dear friend Mary who had celebrated with us this year asked me what I was thankful for. Knowing that I have a very long gratitude list that I could have rattled off, I paused to think about the one thing that I am most thankful for today. And my answer came quickly and easily. I replied, “I am most thankful… read more
