LAWRIE BEARDSLEY
Counselor InternLAWRIE BEARDSLEY
Counselor InternLawrie Beardsley is currently pursuing a Master’s of Arts in Christian Counseling at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary working toward licensure as a Mental Health Counselor. Before beginning her counseling education, she practiced as a physical therapist at Moses Cone Health System since 1990, where she worked with individuals facing neurological, orthopedic, trauma, and chronic pain issues in both hospital and outpatient settings. In that role, she walked alongside patients during some of the most vulnerable times in their lives, bearing witness to their resilience and capacity for healing, even when they doubted it themselves.
Her counseling journey has also been deeply shaped by personal experiences of loss, including the passing of both of her parents and an adult child. These profound losses have given her both personal and professional insight into the difficult road of death-related grief and mourning. She believes healing and growth happen best in a relationship built on trust, and she works collaboratively with clients to set meaningful goals and move forward with purpose. Lawrie is especially drawn to supporting those facing depression, anxiety, trauma, relational conflict, religious trauma, and major life transitions. She also has a special interest in healthcare/first responder vicarious trauma. Believing that all people are made in the Image of God, Lawrie remains inspired by the bravery of clients as they seek growth, healing, and renewed strength, and she is grateful for the privilege of walking with them as they rediscover their own resilience.
Lawrie has been married to her husband, Jim, for 36 years. Together they enjoy spending time with their family, especially their beloved grandchildren. In her spare time, she can be found lifting weights, traveling, hiking, and savoring a really good cup of coffee. Her personal and professional life are grounded in faith, resilience, and a deep appreciation for the gift of relationships.
